The Global Tablet Market Showed Massive Growth in Q3 2024: IDC

The global tablet market saw strong growth in Q3 2024, with shipments reaching 39.6 million units, representing a 20.4% year-over-year (YoY) increase, as reported by the International Data Corporation (IDC).

Apple retained its leading position, shipping 12.6 million units and achieving a modest 1.4% YoY growth. This smaller growth rate didn’t affect Apple’s top position, showcasing its continued popularity and the loyalty of its user base.

Samsung followed closely in second place, shipping 7.1 million tablets with an 18.3% YoY increase, attributed mainly to the success of its Galaxy Tab A9 series. Samsung’s strategic focus on this mid-range line has resonated well with consumers looking for quality on a budget.

Amazon took the third spot with 4.6 million tablets shipped, experiencing an astounding 111.3% YoY growth, largely due to its Amazon Prime Day promotions that drove substantial consumer interest.

Huawei ranked fourth, showing impressive gains as well. It shipped 3.3 million units and achieved a 44.1% YoY increase, underscoring the brand’s growing popularity. Rounding out the top five, Lenovo sold 3 million tablets with a respectable 14.7% YoY growth, solidifying its position in the market.

These results underscore the diverse strategies driving success in the tablet sector. Apple’s stability stems from its strong brand loyalty, while Samsung’s growth reflects the appeal of mid-range offerings like the Galaxy Tab A9. Amazon’s promotional success with Prime Day shows how well-timed deals can boost sales significantly.

Looking ahead, the holiday season could further shape this market. Amazon and Huawei may leverage aggressive promotions to sustain growth, while Apple and Samsung could rely on brand loyalty and established product lines to maintain their competitive edge.
