Amid worsening smog conditions, Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb announced stricter measures to protect public health in Lahore and nearby cities, expanding mandatory mask requirements to Multan, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad.
The move follows Lahore’s record-high Air Quality Index (AQI), placing millions at risk of severe health impacts.

Aurangzeb confirmed that schools across these regions would transition to online classes, and all offices are advised to adopt work-from-home policies to limit outdoor exposure. “These steps are necessary to safeguard public health, especially for vulnerable groups,” she emphasized, adding that enforcement teams would ensure compliance.
She also urged citizens to take additional precautions, such as avoiding outdoor activities, staying indoors as much as possible, and using air purifiers if available. While recognizing the disruption, Aurangzeb called for public cooperation, noting the measures are crucial to minimize health risks during the smog crisis.
