Rawalpindi Issues Smog Advisory

The District Health Authority in Rawalpindi issued an advisory on Wednesday outlining anti-smog precautions, urging the public to take protective measures.

Dr. Asif Arbab Niazi, chief of the District Health Authority, recommended that people wear face masks and goggles when going outdoors and have their vehicles inspected to help reduce smog pollution. He advised the public to monitor construction and garbage areas to prevent dust and dirt from mixing into the air. Additionally, he urged people to avoid burning garbage in the streets and stressed that factories should install air pollution control devices.

Dr. Niazi highlighted the importance of tree planting in reducing smog levels, encouraging the community to plant more trees. He also advised farmers against burning crop residues. The advisory suggested using a damp cloth instead of a broom to clean floors at home, as well as keeping windows and doors closed and drinking plenty of water.

Dr. Asif added that smog awareness counters have been set up in hospitals. He advised residents to seek hospital care if they experience any health issues due to smog.
