Punjab Allocates Rs. 4 Billion for Free Solar Panel Project

The Punjab government has allocated a significant Rs. 4 billion for the Chief Minister’s “Free Solar Panel Project.”

This funding, released by the Punjab Finance Department, is directed toward providing free solar panels, aiming to alleviate energy issues across the province by promoting sustainable power solutions.

It is pertinent to mention that this project will benefit low-consumption households across the province. Under this scheme, households using up to 200 units of electricity per month will receive solar panels at no cost.

Those consuming between 200 and 500 units will also have access to subsidized panels, paying only 10% of the total cost, while the Punjab government covers the remaining 90%.  These payments will be interest-free and spread over five years, making it financially feasible for middle-income households.

Earlier, CM Punjab had stated that this initiative is expected to reduce electricity bills by 40%, reaffirming her commitment to providing essential relief to the public during challenging economic times.

In addition to the solar initiative, the Punjab Finance Department has allocated Rs. 40 million for a new sports complex in Judicial Colony and another Rs. 40 million to enhance the gymnasium and build a table tennis court at Nishtar Park.

Moreover, Rs. 40 million has been earmarked for the sports complex in Johar Town’s R2 Block. All funding details have been made publicly available online, highlighting the government’s focus on both renewable energy and community development projects.
