WWE Meets Football as The Undertaker Helps Launch Genoa’s Third Kit

In a surprising crossover between football and World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE legend The Undertaker has become the face of Serie A club Genoa’s third kit launch on Tuesday.

The Italian team teased fans with a video showing a silhouette of his iconic attire, building anticipation.

Hours later, the wrestling icon appeared, draped in the all-black kit, complete with his iconic black bandana from his wrestling heyday.

“Entertainment, music, arts, and sports are enriched with the wrestling champion Undertaker,” Genoa shared in a translated statement. “He stands among the legends of the ring in a sport loved across generations.”

Though fans got a sneak peek on October 29, the official reveal on Tuesday showcased the kit’s finer details, including gold trim around the badge, sponsor, and nameplate, all part of Genoa’s “Golden Dark Side of Genoa” campaign that began last December.

Last season, British singer-actress Rita Ora introduced Genoa’s 130th-anniversary gold uniform, starting a trend in celebrity ambassadors now continued by The Undertaker.

Founded in 1893, Genoa is Italy’s oldest football club and has a storied history with nine Italian Championship titles, though their last victory was in 1924.

Recently, Genoa strengthened their squad by signing Italian striker Mario Balotelli on October 28, but they currently sit 17th in Serie A, with just one win since August 9.

With fixtures against AC Milan and Napoli on the horizon as well, Genoa will be hoping their collaboration with the Undertaker helps turn their fortunes around as well.
