The National Highway Authority (NHA) is set to upgrade key motorways to accommodate growing traffic demands.
Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, emphasized the need for expanded capacity on the Lahore, Sialkot, and Kharian to Islamabad Motorway by increasing the lanes from four to six.
Khan explained that the decision is crucial in addressing future traffic pressure and ensuring smoother travel for commuters.
During a high-level meeting, the Minister directed the NHA to plan infrastructure projects with foresight, especially to keep pace with the rapidly increasing number of vehicles on the roads.
The expansion of these motorways is expected to enhance travel efficiency, reduce congestion, and improve road safety.

We want car bike repair shops on highway and on more places onthe road.. also public washrooms
It looks like highways and motorways are Punjab specific only. They keep on ignoring the other parts of the country as always.
When they plan to make Karachi Hyderabad motorway? This section has the highest traffic among any routes.
For GOD sake… plz build a proper motorway between karachi and Hyderabad instead of naming Highway a Motorway. It is not a motorway, it’s a highway. All kind of carts, rickshaws, bikes, trucks, loaders, passenger vehicle with private vehicles are traveling on this so called highway.
Please for God sake include KPK & Balochistan also in your priorities.
If you can’t make a motorway, at least you can convert the existing Indus Highway (so called highway) to a motorway with minimum cost. This way you can win the hearts of the people as well.
Karachi needs it more…
Much more needed project to expand is M3 and m4. From multan to abdulhakim am beyond till Pindi bhattian
Perhaps big chunk of traffic passes from Karachi to Pindi and Lahore via m5 m4 M3 and m2. This traffic narrows down at multan till abdulhakim which needs expansion and safety also from Abdul Hakim to fasialabad . From Lahore to Sialkot traffic is very less.
When will construction start on Narowal expressway?
Instead of spending money on road expansion, kindly invest on public transport.. no need to take out car or bike for office if we are provided with decent public transport. Take the example of Islamabad, we are forced to use cars and bikes. Kindly provide metro service to each sector.. people will love to use them.. and this will also reduce air pollution and use of petrol on national level.
I request fedral minster for communication to also visit Sindh to see the pathetic situation of hiways here.
What about Multan to Abdul Hakeem and Faisalabad motorway. We have 4 lane and need 6 on then
