Islamabad might face a long dry period if rain doesn’t fall today, the Met Department warns. The dry weather will make smog worse in the city and nearby areas.
The Met Office expects rain in Islamabad and Potohar region today and tomorrow. If rain doesn’t come, the city will stay dry for the next week.
The air quality in Islamabad has reached dangerous levels. The city recorded an Air Quality Index of 258, which is 36.6% above safe limits.
Many Punjab cities will face smog and fog problems. These include Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sialkot, and other major cities.
Some cities might get relief from rain. Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, and nearby areas expect rainfall today.
Northern areas will see rain and snow. Chitral, Swat, Dir, and mountain regions will experience wet weather.
Sindh will stay mostly dry. However, parts of northern Balochistan, including Quetta and Ziarat, might get some rain.
The Met Office Director says dry weather will make air quality worse. The lack of rain will increase air pollution and create visibility problems.
The weather department closely watches these conditions. They hope today’s expected rain will improve the air quality in affected areas.
