The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has started a crackdown on people and businesses dumping waste on streets and footpaths.
Under the Sindh Local Government Act, notices have been issued to restaurants and businesses found littering public spaces.
Violators may face strict penalties, including fines up to Rs. 50,000 or imprisonment for up to three years, according to the KMC spokesperson.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said municipal inspectors will enforce the law and take necessary actions to stop public littering.
Three hotels have already received notices for dumping waste on footpaths. They have three days to resolve the issue or face legal action.
This initiative aims to promote cleanliness and create a safer, healthier environment for Karachi’s citizens.
