Afghan Nationals Get December 31 Deadline to Get NOC or Leave Islamabad

The federal government has set a December 31 deadline for Afghan nationals in Islamabad to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or leave the city. This move is part of broader efforts to regulate foreign residents and enhance security in the capital.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the decision during a site visit to the ongoing F-8 underpass construction. The minister also addressed concerns surrounding recent protests in Islamabad, stating that allegations of mass casualties were unsubstantiated.

Authorities have reported progress in restoring normalcy in the city following the unrest. Infrastructure projects, including the F-9 road and underpass, are progressing as planned.

In a show of solidarity, Naqvi, accompanied by the Punjab Rangers DG, visited PIMS Hospital to meet with injured security personnel. Officials commended their efforts in maintaining order during the protests and assured them of quality medical care.

Meanwhile, Islamabad Police Chief Ali Nasir Rizvi confirmed the arrest of 954 protesters over three days. During operations, law enforcement seized over 200 vehicles and 39 firearms, including Kalashnikovs and pistols. Officials reported that 71 individuals were injured, with 52 belonging to security forces.

Authorities have reiterated that strict security measures will remain in place, and unauthorized individuals will not be allowed to stay in the capital. Enhanced patrolling and checkpoints will continue to ensure public safety and prevent further disruptions.
