A private school principal in Lodhran, Pakistan, was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a seventh-grade student nine months ago.
The suspect, who also owns the school, was taken into custody by Lodhran Saddar Police following a complaint from the 12-year-old girl’s father. The victim had stopped attending school after the incident but hadn’t disclosed it to her parents until recently.
According to District Police Spokesperson Khan Bahadur, the girl was a student at the school in Basti Lalilwala. The principal allegedly lured her into a classroom under the pretense of cleaning duties, locked the door, and sexually assaulted her. He then threatened her to keep silent.
The victim’s father stated that his daughter had seemed troubled and withdrawn after the incident but hadn’t revealed what happened. It was only recently that she confided in her parents about the assault.
A rape case has been filed against the suspect, and he was arrested on the orders of DPO Kamran Mumtaz. A medical examination of the victim is still pending.
