PIA CEO Likely to Get Extension

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Board of Directors is set to convene an important meeting in Karachi today to address critical management decisions.

One of the primary agenda items includes the possible extension of CEO Aamir Hayat’s tenure, which is nearing its expiration. If the board decides against extending his term, an acting CEO may be appointed from the airline’s senior management.

Potential candidates for the interim role include Chief Operating Officer Amanullah Qureshi, Chief Technical Officer Amir Ali, and Chief Project Officer Khurram Mushtaq.

The board will also review a proposal to raise employee salaries by 20-25%, aiming to improve staff welfare amid ongoing operational challenges.

This meeting comes at a pivotal time for PIA, as it faces financial and administrative hurdles while attempting to maintain stability and efficiency in its operations. The outcomes of today’s discussions are expected to have a significant impact on the airline’s leadership and workforce policies.
