Background and Implementation

This decision stems from the recent shift in Sindh’s academic session from August 1 to April 1. The reduction in syllabus and other changes were finalized during a meeting of the Sindh Education Department’s steering committee sub-committee in late November. The minutes were formally notified on December 5.

The meeting included key officials, such as the Secretary of College Education, Secretary of Universities and Boards, board chairpersons from Karachi and Mirpurkhas, private school representatives, and others.

The Directorate of Curriculum, Assessment, and Research (DCAAR) has been tasked with finalizing and distributing the reduced syllabus by December 15 to ensure timely communication with students, boards, and other stakeholders.

College and University Considerations

For colleges, the academic year will begin on August 1, 2025. The committee also acknowledged that most universities announce scholarship programs in August, emphasizing the need to align the academic calendar with these schedules to safeguard students’ academic opportunities.

These changes aim to streamline Sindh’s education system while minimizing disruptions caused by the calendar shift.
