Preparations for the operational launch of the New Gwadar International Airport are in their final stages, with the facility expected to open by the end of this month, according to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).
Acting Director General of PCAA, Zeeshan Saeed, visited the airport to oversee the progress. During his visit, Project Director Faizullah Khattak provided a detailed briefing on the operational preparations.
The project team also engaged with airport stakeholders, offering insights into the business opportunities and economic zones connected to the new facility.
The $246 million airport, funded in part by a Chinese grant, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a modern terminal building and a large runway capable of accommodating all types of large aircraft, the PCAA noted.
During the visit, the acting DG expressed satisfaction with the progress and preparations, highlighting the airport’s readiness for operations. The PCAA emphasized that the airport is expected to serve as a key driver for trade and economic growth in the region.
The New Gwadar International Airport represents a significant step in enhancing Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure, further integrating Gwadar into regional and global trade networks.
