The Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) has confirmed that the inaugural National Women’s Volleyball Tournament will begin on December 16. This week-long event aims to showcase the skill, resilience, and potential of female athletes from across the country.
More than 60 teams and 600 participants will converge at the National Coaching Center – Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) to compete for top honors of the National Women’s Volleyball Tournament. With finals slated for December 23, the tournament marks a groundbreaking step toward empowering women in sports and paving the way for future representation on international platforms like the Olympics.
At Thursday’s press conference at Karachi Gymkhana, Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon praised the PVF’s efforts. He assured full cooperation from the Sindh Government to ensure the National Women’s Volleyball Tournament’s success.
“I want to congratulate the organizers for staging this inaugural event for women athletes,” Memon said. “The Sindh Government will fully support this initiative and meet all necessary requirements.”
Memon emphasized that the government plans to make the tournament a yearly fixture, encouraging more parents to allow their daughters to pursue sports. He hopes that this event will inspire other provinces and stakeholders to invest in women’s volleyball and broaden pathways for young talent.
“We remain committed to providing positive opportunities for our youth,” he added. “Our aim is to create a system where this national tournament becomes an annual highlight, fostering a brighter future for women’s sports in Pakistan.”
