Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Faces Screen Issue Less Than a Year After Launch

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, known for its impressive display, is now experiencing problems. Less than a year after launch, users have reported that the anti-reflective layer is peeling off in high-use areas, particularly where scrolling occurs and along the edges of the screen.

The issue first gained attention when an X user, @xeetechcare, shared images of his device showing peeling at the right edge and visible spots across the display. He clarified that external factors like keys or coins had not exposed his phone, ruling out accidental damage. Despite careful use, the scuff marks were still prominent. Other users shared similar complaints, suggesting that the problem might be widespread.

The coating appears susceptible to tiny scratches and scuff marks due to its softer texture compared to the glass beneath. Hannes Brecher from Notebookcheck noted that the anti-reflective layer may be too delicate to withstand regular wear and tear, explaining why users see damage so quickly.

Samsung Remains Silent

Samsung has not officially responded to the reports yet, leaving users unsure if the display damage will be covered under warranty. Users previously experienced cases where Samsung dismissed the oleophobic coating on their devices as natural wear and tear, which warranty policies do not cover.

Users should take extra care when cleaning their displays until Samsung addresses the issue. You should use only a microfiber cloth and avoid cleaning solutions that could worsen the damage.

A screen protector might help protect against scratches, but it compromises the anti-reflective coating’s effectiveness, leaving users to choose between display protection and visual clarity.
