A recent leak on Reddit by user NextHandheld, who claims to have seen the final version of the Nintendo Switch 2, has revealed key details. According to the source, the Nintendo Switch 2 will feature magnetically attached Joy-Cons with Hall effect joysticks, fixing the original Switch’s notorious stick drift issue.
The console will reportedly maintain backward compatibility with existing Switch cartridges. Leaked images from @deckwizardyt also showcase a redesigned dock with a larger, curved design and additional connectivity options. Furthermore, the buttons appear slightly larger than those on the current Switch.
Rumors suggest that the Switch 2 may launch with an LCD rather than an OLED display, but Nintendo could release an upgraded OLED version later. The console will likely debut alongside Mario Kart 9, marking the first major new installment in the franchise since Mario Kart 8 launched in 2014. A Mario Kart 9 Edition of the console is also reportedly in the works.
Earlier reports suggest that the Switch 2 will include an 8-inch display, significantly larger than the original’s 6.2-inch screen. Rumors indicate that the system features 12GB RAM—three times more than its predecessor—and an upgraded CPU/GPU capable of running games at 1080p resolution with 60fps when docked.
While Nintendo has yet to confirm these details, the increasing number of leaks indicates that the Switch 2’s official announcement is close. Sources speculate that Nintendo will reveal the console in late March or early April.
