Nintendo may be planning to release several remastered titles through third-party publishers on the Switch throughout 2025, as the company’s internal development teams shift their attention to projects for the console’s successor.
Industry insider PH Brazil, who has established some credibility with previous leaks, reports that Nintendo has two in-house remasters scheduled for 2025: one GameCube title and one Nintendo 3DS game.
Additionally, the Japanese gaming giant is allegedly reaching out to external publishers, encouraging them to develop remasters for the Switch. This strategy appears aimed at maintaining a robust game lineup throughout 2025, ensuring that players who haven’t upgraded to the Nintendo Switch 2 will still have access to fresh content.
The insider emphasizes that these remaster plans should not be interpreted as a delay in the new console’s launch timeline. According to the source, Nintendo is in discussions with several major publishers, including Ubisoft, which might bring remastered versions of Splinter Cell Blacklist, Rayman 3, and the first two Driver games to the platform. Electronic Arts and Bandai Namco are also reportedly among the publishers being approached.
As for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, recent leaks have indicated that Nintendo’s upcoming console will incorporate advanced features such as ray tracing technology and Nvidia DLSS capabilities.
While the new system is expected to maintain a similar form factor to its predecessor, official details about its specifications and capabilities remain under wraps, with industry watchers eagerly awaiting its formal unveiling. Until then, Switch users will have multiple remastered classics from the past to look forward to.
