Meezan Bank Shares Customer Cybersecurity Advisory After Denying Blames of Data Breach

Meezan Bank has issued a customer advisory addressing rumors circulating on social media about unauthorized charges on debit and credit cards. The advisory clarified that there had been no data breaches and assured customers that their information was completely secure.

Meezan Bank emphasized that it is PCI-certified and all its cards are EMV and 3D Secure compliant. The bank stated that recent disputed transactions were related to unsecured e-commerce activities and are being reimbursed under the chargeback mechanism of international payment schemes. Affected customers are being compensated promptly.

To ensure safe online transactions, Meezan Bank advised customers to follow these precautions:

  • Avoid using cards on untrusted websites.
  • Refrain from conducting banking transactions over public Wi-Fi.
  • Be cautious of phishing attempts via emails, messages, or calls asking for card details or OTPs, even if they appear legitimate.
  • Immediately report lost or stolen cards to the bank.

Meezan Bank encouraged customers to confidently use their cards on trusted websites, highlighting the convenience of cashless transactions. The bank reassured the public that it is taking all necessary measures to protect customer interests and maintain data security.
