Punjab Announces Recruitment of Over 1000 Consultants in Healthcare

The Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education has formally requested the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) to recruit 1,092 consultants across 45 specialties.

The positions include 200 dental surgeons, 96 senior registrars in anesthesia, 95 in cardiology, 92 in surgery, 60 in obstetrics and gynecology, 53 in medicine, 46 in cardiac surgery, and 44 in orthopedic surgery.

Additional requests have been made for 38 senior registrars in pediatric surgery, 33 in pediatric medicine, 32 in neurosurgery, 35 in radiology, and 22 assistant professors (APs) in physiology.

Other roles include 20 APs each for obstetrics, gynecology, and biochemistry, 15 senior registrars in pediatric hematology, 11 APs in pharmacology, 19 senior registrars in ENT, and 16 in plastic surgery. The department has also sought 10 senior registrars in neurology, 11 in cardiac anesthesia, 18 in psychiatry, and 17 each in ophthalmology and nephrology.

Further positions include senior registrars in pediatric subspecialties such as radiology, neurology, ophthalmology, urology, and anesthesia and associate professors in critical care, infectious diseases, and pediatric specialties.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasized that this recruitment drive and the recent hiring of 3,000 nurses will address staffing shortages in Punjab’s public hospitals. Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood added that the additions would enhance healthcare delivery and patient services.
