Punjab Gets New Divisions, Districts and Tehsils

The Punjab government has officially announced an administrative restructuring of the province, dividing it into 10 divisions, 41 districts, and 216 tehsils. The changes were confirmed in a gazette notification issued by Governor Sardar Saleem Haider on Thursday.

According to the provincial revenue department, the Gujarat division, which was established during Parvez Elahi’s tenure as chief minister but later abolished by Shehbaz Sharif, has been reinstated.

Additionally, Murree and Talagang have been granted the status of full-fledged districts.

The updated administrative divisions include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur.

Following this revamp, authorities have decided to realign Punjab’s electoral constituencies to reflect the new administrative setup. The changes are expected to enhance governance and streamline administrative operations across the province.
