The West Indies cricket team has named its 15-player squad for the historic two-Test tour of Pakistan in January 2025. This will mark the Caribbean side’s first red-ball series in Pakistan in 18 years, and it comes with fresh faces and notable returns as the team looks to end the World Test Championship cycle on a high despite occupying last place in the WTC table.

Amir Jangoo, the standout performer from the recent ODI series against Bangladesh, has earned his maiden Test call-up. The 27-year-old batter made headlines with a dazzling 104* off just 83 balls on his ODI debut in St. Kitts, solidifying his reputation as one of the region’s rising stars.

Spin Boost with Motie’s Return

In a welcome development, left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has been recalled to the Test squad after missing the recent series against Bangladesh due to injury. His inclusion strengthens the West Indies bowling attack, especially given the spin conditions expected in Pakistan.

However, the squad will be without Shamar Joseph, who remains sidelined with an injury, and Alzarri Joseph, who was unavailable for selection.

Final World Test Championship Fixtures

The series against Pakistan serves as the concluding chapter for both teams in the current World Test Championship cycle.
