Traffic Diversions Implemented Amid Protests in Karachi

Protests led by Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) against the Parachinar situation have brought widespread disruptions to Karachi’s traffic flow. The sit-ins, which began at Numaish Chowrangi, have now spread across the city, causing the closure of several major roads and severe traffic jams.

Among the affected routes, MA Jinnah Road has been completely closed to traffic at Numaish Chowrangi, and Abul Hasan Isfahani Road is blocked on both sides near Abbas Town. Five-Star Chowrangi has also been entirely shut down, while University Road is closed from Metro Shopping Center to Nipa Chowrangi.

Main Shahrah-e-Faisal is blocked from Kala Pul to Malir Road, and the National Highway is closed in both directions near the Malir 15 Bridge.

To manage the situation, Karachi Traffic Police have implemented traffic diversions. Vehicles from Malir, Korangi Industrial Area, and Clifton Defence are being rerouted through Shah Faisal Colony, Rita Plot, and Shama Shopping Center to reach the airport. Travelers from Pehlwan Goth can use alternate routes via Karsaz, Drig Road, Millennium Mall, and Johar Chowrangi to avoid blockages.

In North Karachi, traffic from Power House Chowrangi is being redirected to Service Road, while Incholi Shahrah-e-Pakistan remains closed towards Sohrab Goth. Gulberg Chowrangi and Water Pump Chowrangi have also seen diversions, affecting routes to Cardiac Hospital.

Karachi Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their routes and stay updated on the evolving traffic situation, as diversions are subject to change. Residents are urged to exercise caution and use alternative routes to avoid delays caused by the ongoing protests.
