The National Highway Authority (NHA) has approved the construction of an interchange for Housing Society, Eighteen, near the Motorway link road in Islamabad. This decision came after the intervention of the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman), Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi.
Elite Estate (Pvt) Ltd., the developers of Eighteen, applied for the interchange in 2019. They paid a processing fee of Rs. 5 million and submitted the design plans along with a cheque of Rs. 72,585,000 to the NHA. Despite fulfilling these requirements, the project faced delays for several years.
The housing society approached the Wafaqi Mohtasib, highlighting the inconvenience caused to its residents due to NHA’s inaction. After multiple hearings at the Ombudsman’s Secretariat, the NHA finally granted initial approval for the interchange construction.
In response, the head of the housing society expressed gratitude to the Wafaqi Mohtasib for resolving the matter and ensuring progress on the long-awaited project.

Sir, they have mentioned the name. It’s “Eighteen”, located on the motorway link road, or may call it Srinagar Highway extension.
This Interchage has no value for the Future and it will create a big hughe Traffic Jam .
They built it on NHA or govt land and it is a very strip like where a car even can’t go through.
The NHA should stopped because no proper design and also in next 2 yrs this Motorway will be like Adyala road Traffic jam .
It will be better for NHA and also for the society to think for it seriously and should build it like other Interchages built on the Motorway and even it should be more advanced one as a lot of society Members will used it in future .

Dear Dr. Sb. The picture used in the article looks like a reference only to highlight article here and doesn’t look like an original design for approval.
If do much effort and money is already been paid for this approval, the society will never take their win back. They will use this approval as theur next marketing tool.
And also, NHA’s Engineering team will have done their due diligence before giving their approvals.

Dr Saab is right there should be a proper plan and if they want to construct the interchange proper land should be allocated outside the motorway like at least minimum 1-2 km for traffic to divert away from main motorway into society but I’m expecting these societies will use every inch of their land the main entry gates will be on motorway that would results a mess. Very nice, as it will facilitate not only the 18 society residents but also the university town and adjacent society residents.
Societies of the rich and influential do get interchanges. It is the common man who continues to bear all hardships.
Not sure what will be it’s impact on other nearby small societies of low budget investors
There are more than one interchanges under construction only for these small housing societies across M2. There are no requirements officially on table only kickbacks by the societies. Pending 2019, rings the bells? there are many such projects pending since Khan’s govt because it was not so easy to get approved for anything.
There are two other societies nearby G-16, G-15. They are also people of Pakistan and have equal rights like other. They are not allowing to use Sri Nagar High way by putting fancy near G-16 and G-15. Where as Sri Nagar Highway is constructed on G-15 and G-16 land and now they are not allowing residents to utilised it. It is requested while constructing Interchange need of these two sectors also kept in mind.
Sir there’s much needed interchange for B17 Islamabad. Huge traffic on GT road. Inconvenient for the People of Peshawar and lahore
