NADRA Introduces Biometric B-Form for Children Over 10

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has unveiled a new B-Form for children aged 10 and above, incorporating advanced security features.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that the updated B-Form will now require photographs and fingerprints, marking a significant step toward improving identity protection.

According to the Interior Ministry, this initiative aims to prevent the misuse of children’s identity information and curb issues like fake ID cards, illegal passports, and human trafficking.

Starting January 15, NADRA will begin issuing the new B-Form in phases. Children must visit a NADRA center with a legal guardian or parent, along with their computerized birth certificate and the parent’s computerized identity card.

Once the process is complete, the child will receive a B-Form featuring their photograph and fingerprints. This updated form will also be mandatory for applying for a new passport, as older versions without biometric details will no longer be valid.

The Ministry of Interior has also announced plans for further reforms, including iris scans and additional identification measures at union councils. Enhancements to the Pak ID mobile app are in progress, with plans to issue digital IDs to all Pakistani citizens in the near future.
