Pakistan Arrests Indian Man Trying to Cross Border to Meet Facebook Lover

A Facebook romance led a man to illegally cross the border, landing him in jail.

According to Indian media, 30-year-old Badal Babu, a resident of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested in Pakistan.

Badal attempted to cross the border illegally to meet his Facebook friend in Pakistan. Five days ago, while trying to cross the border, he was apprehended by Pakistani security forces, where he narrated his love story.

Since Badal lacked travel documents, he was detained under Pakistan’s Foreign Act Sections 13 and 14.

He was later presented in court and placed under 14-day judicial custody. The next hearing is scheduled for January 10.

This isn’t the first time someone from India has crossed into Pakistan for love kindled on social media.

Earlier, an Indian woman, Anju, traveled to Pakistan to meet her lover, accepted Islam, and married a Pakistani man named Nasrullah.

Last year, Seema Haider, a woman from Pakistan, befriended an Indian man through the PUBG game and traveled to India via Nepal with her four children, where they married.

Similarly, 19-year-old Pakistani girl Iqra Jiwani befriended 25-year-old Indian citizen Mulayam Singh Yadav through an online game. The two later married in Nepal.
