The highly anticipated player draft for season 10 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is expected to be relocated from Gwadar to a new city.
Sources disclosed on Tuesday that the change in venue for Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament was prompted by franchise concerns and logistical constraints associated with hosting the event in the coastal city of Gwadar.
The league’s broadcaster has reportedly confirmed the development, stating, “The venue of the PSL 10 draft has been changed.” Additionally, insiders revealed that several franchises expressed reservations about traveling to Gwadar, emphasizing difficulties in logistics as the primary reason for their concerns.
Lahore is now the likeliest destination to host the PSL 10 Player Draft. The shift to Lahore, Pakistan’s cricketing hub, ensures smoother execution of the event while maintaining the grandeur of the player draft, a key milestone in the PSL calendar.
In related news, the PSL administration announced that the player retention list for PSL 10 will be revealed on January 4, 2025. Franchises will finalize and announce their retained players from the previous season, PSL 9, on the designated date.
Following the retention process, the draft will see teams pick from the remaining pool of players to complete their squads for the landmark 10th edition of the league.
The upcoming season is expected to be a spectacle, celebrating a decade of the Pakistan Super League’s journey. Over the years, the league has emerged as a global brand, providing a platform for young talent and attracting international stars to Pakistan.
While the move from Gwadar may disappoint fans hoping for cricketing festivities in the scenic coastal city, Lahore’s experience hosting high-profile events ensures that the draft will proceed without a hitch.
