Punjab’s Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare, Khawaja Imran Nazir, announced the launch of a new health model in collaboration with the private sector. Speaking at a meeting about the Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics (MNHC) on Wednesday, he revealed that the first phase of the program would revamp 150 Basic Health Units (BHUs). He assured that the healthcare department would rigorously monitor these clinics to maintain high standards of medical care.
Highlighting the initiative’s objectives, Khawaja Imran Nazir stated that the MNHC program seeks to empower doctors financially, reduce government interference, and provide top-notch medical services to the public.
Under the program, doctors will operate independently, with the clinics equipped to offer advanced healthcare services such as TB and Hepatitis treatment, immunization under the EPI program, and portable X-ray facilities. Senior officials, including Project Director IRMNCH Dr. Khalil and Deputy Secretary Technical Dr. Ahsan Riaz, were present to discuss strategies for the program’s success.
