Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima on Saturday confirmed a major disruption in internet services across Pakistan due to a fault in the international submarine cable system AAE-1.
The issue has impacted data traffic of approximately 1,000 gigabytes per second which significantly slowed down online connectivity nationwide.
To mitigate the disruption, authorities have successfully rerouted 630 gigabytes per second of data traffic to alternative pathways, with an additional 200 gigabytes per second expected to be redirected shortly.
The IT Ministry assured users that efforts are underway to restore normalcy as soon as possible while keeping the public informed about the progress.
