Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced plans to expand its domestic and international operations by launching new flights starting in January, ARY News reported.
The airline will utilize Boeing 777 and Airbus 320 aircraft for these services. Key routes include:
In a major operational update, PIA’s acting CEO, Khurram Mushtaq, disclosed plans to reactivate several grounded aircraft in 2025. He revealed that out of the airline’s fleet of 34 aircraft, only 16 were operational when he assumed office. However, within three weeks, three aircraft, including a Boeing 777, an Airbus 320, and an ATR, were returned to service, increasing the active fleet to 19.
By mid-2025, PIA aims to reactivate more Boeing 777s and Airbus aircraft, increasing the operational fleet to 24 and using the Boeing 777s for flights to European destinations. The ultimate goal is to restore all 34 aircraft to full operation by the end of the year, significantly boosting revenue.
Additionally, the airline has approved a 25% salary increase for its employees as part of its broader efforts to improve operations. Last year, PIA also expanded its fleet by adding two aircraft.
