Karachi Experiences Coldest Night of Winter

The port city experienced its coldest night of the season on Tuesday, with temperatures plunging to single digits in the early morning hours.

The minimum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 8°C, a one-degree drop from the previous day. At Jinnah Terminal, the mercury fell even further to 6.2°C, while the town of Mithi in rural Sindh experienced a freezing 0°C.

Cold winds originating from Balochistan intensified the chill in Karachi, making the city feel even colder. The wind chill effect caused the perceived temperature to be 2 to 4 degrees lower than the actual readings, despite moderate wind speeds.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the official weather station in Karachi logged a low of 8°C, while the Jinnah Terminal station recorded a colder 6.2°C.

Other parts of the city reported varying minimum temperatures:

  • Gulistan-e-Jauhar: 7.5°C
  • Mauripur: 10°C
  • Bin Qasim: 11°C
