The School Education Department has decided to prioritize the early retirement of teachers with education up to matriculation.
A new retirement policy has been formulated, which is expected to impact over 3,000 teachers. Under the policy, teachers aged 50 will also be given the option of early retirement.
The department has already requested data on teachers aged 50 or above. Additionally, the School Education Department has written to the Chief Secretary, seeking approval for amendments to the current retirement policy.
As per the existing policy, teachers over the age of 50 can apply for early retirement.
