Pakistan’s Expected Provisional Squad for Champions Trophy 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially submitted its provisional squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to be hosted in Pakistan. The squad features a mix of experienced players and promising talent, signaling the team’s intent to balance stability and innovation in their campaign to claim the coveted trophy.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has been named captain, with star batter Babar Azam retaining his spot as a key figure in the team. Other seasoned players such as Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah bolster the squad with their proven credentials in international cricket.

Young talent has also been given a platform to shine, with players like Saim Ayub, Tayyab Tahir, and Irfan Khan making the provisional list. However, Saim Ayub’s inclusion is contingent upon his fitness, with PCB officials closely monitoring his recovery.

The full 17-member provisional squad includes:
– Mohammad Rizwan (C)
– Babar Azam
– Fakhar Zaman
– Imam-ul-Haq
– Saim Ayub (fitness pending)
– Agha Salman
– Tayyab Tahir
– Irfan Khan
– Kamran Ghulam
– Sufiyan Muqeem
– Abrar Ahmed
– Shaheen Shah Afridi
– Haris Rauf
– Mohammad Abbas
– Naseem Shah
– Abdullah Shafiq
– Usman Khan
– Haseebullah Khan

While the PCB has submitted the list to the International Cricket Council (ICC), sources suggest that Abdullah Shafiq and Usman Khan are unlikely to make the final squad when the final 15-player list is announced.

The Champions Trophy 2025 marks Pakistan’s return as a major ICC tournament host after decades. The tournament, which will feature the top eight ODI teams, is set to kick off in February. Fans eagerly await to see how the Men in Green prepare to take advantage of home conditions to secure glory.
