Punjab Launches Mass Wedding Program

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the ‘Dhee Rani Program’ on Saturday, commemorating the occasion with a grand mass wedding ceremony for 51 couples, including five Christian pairs.

This initiative, designed to support families with limited financial resources, is the first of its kind in the province of Punjab.

While addressing the gathering, Maryam Nawaz extended her congratulations to the newlyweds and their families, offering her heartfelt prayers for their happiness and future together. She described the event as both emotional and joyful, expressing her pride in being part of such a significant milestone for the couples.

“This moment holds immense emotion for both the children and their parents. Just as their parents celebrate today, I too feel the joy of a mother,” she remarked during her speech.

The Chief Minister personally greeted each couple, presented congratulatory cards, and offered prayers for their successful married lives. She expressed her wishes by saying, “May Allah bless this new chapter in your lives and replace any past hardships with eternal happiness.”

Under the program, the couples received essential household items such as mattresses, dinnerware, cooking sets, and other daily necessities. Additionally, each couple was gifted a special ‘Dhee Rani Greeting Card’ along with a monetary contribution of Rs100,000.

Maryam Nawaz also inspected the gifts provided to the couples and joined the newlyweds for a group photo. A complimentary lunch for all attendees was organized by the Social Welfare Department.

The ‘Dhee Rani Program’ seeks to alleviate the financial burden of marriage for underprivileged families while fostering a sense of community and social inclusion. Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of such initiatives, emphasizing their role in creating a compassionate and supportive society.

The program’s inauguration, marked by the wedding of 51 couples at a premier marriage venue in Lahore, represents a significant step toward social welfare in Punjab.
