The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has decided to shut down its website and shift all services to a mobile app. NADRA’s website will officially be taken offline on January 17.
In a statement, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that NADRA’s Pak-ID website will be discontinued, and all services will now be provided through the mobile app.
He explained that fraudulent individuals were using fake websites to assist in creating forged identity documents. These scammers were also attempting to misuse citizens’ personal information. The Interior Minister further stated that citizens, especially overseas Pakistanis, faced difficulties using the website. Uploading scanned fingerprints and required documents was often a challenging process.
The Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have taken strict notice of these fraudulent activities. NADRA, in collaboration with other institutions, is ensuring action against these elements.
The minister added that NADRA’s mobile app has been significantly improved. Services such as identity cards, NICOP, POC, B-Forms, and FRCs are now available on the app. Citizens can complete all identity document-related processes from the comfort of their homes using the mobile app.
According to Mohsin Naqvi, NADRA will also establish three new regional centers. These centers will be set up in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gwadar, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The new regional offices will begin operations on March 31. These centers will improve communication between NADRA officials and citizens and enhance service delivery in remote areas. Citizens’ issues will be resolved more quickly, and complaints will be addressed promptly.
The minister also mentioned that NADRA offices are yet to be established in only 19 tehsils across the country. Work on these offices is progressing rapidly, and they will become operational by March 31.
