Citizens Warned of Cold Weather in Next Few Days

Pakistan experienced predominantly cold and dry weather today, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported.

Chilly conditions were especially intense in hilly regions, while moderate to dense fog affected parts of Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the morning and night.

By evening or night, light rain and snowfall are expected in western Balochistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The PMD explained that the weather pattern is currently influenced by continental air across most of the country. However, a shallow westerly wave is forecasted to impact the upper and western regions later tonight.

In the last 24 hours, the weather remained cold and dry nationwide. Light rain was recorded in areas such as northern Balochistan, Kashmir, Murree, and Galiyat, with Murree receiving one inch of snow.

Foggy conditions were widespread across Punjab. The coldest temperatures were noted in Leh (-11°C), Skardu (-9°C), and Ziarat (-7°C).

Residents are urged to prepare for continued cold conditions and possible travel difficulties due to fog and snowfall, particularly in mountainous areas and regions prone to dense fog.
