Some School Teachers in Punjab Haven’t Received Salaries in Last Seven Months
Several male and female teachers working at afternoon schools have been awaiting their monthly salaries for the past seven months. Alleged negligence by education officials has affected the operation of these schools, which serve a significant number of students.
Sources revealed that the teachers, particularly young female educators, have faced financial strain, having to bear commuting costs for the last 10 months without compensation due to their temporary teaching roles. Many reported incurring debt as a result.

As per policy guidelines, heads of selected public primary and elementary schools hired MA/MSc-qualified individuals, both male and female, on modest monthly salaries to teach at these afternoon schools. These schools were established to provide education to out-of-school children in remote areas.
Sources confirmed that the Punjab government has released the required funds to clear the outstanding salaries of teachers and staff, including those in the Jhang district. Education CEO Tanveer Ahmed stated that the district education officers (DEOs) of the elementary wings have been instructed to expedite the process of disbursing the pending salaries as soon as possible.
