Head of the British High Commission’s Lahore Office, Ben Warrington, officially inaugurated the launch of the Roshni+ Mobile Health Unit on Tuesday.
The initiative by the Marie Stopes Society (MSS) is supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO).
The state-of-the-art mobile unit offers comprehensive services, including long-term and short-term family planning methods, counseling, sugar and pregnancy testing, and outpatient medical care.
It will operate across Lahore and Kasur districts, with a focus on reaching underserved communities, particularly women and girls.
MSS has already deployed 16 mobile health units across rural areas of Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to address critical gaps in healthcare access in regions where trained medical professionals are scarce.
Speaking at the event, Ben Warrington emphasized, “The UK remains committed to empowering women and girls by ensuring access to modern contraceptives and family planning services. We are dedicated to enabling women to make informed decisions about when and how many children they wish to have.”
Asma Balal, Country Director of the Marie Stopes Society in Pakistan, remarked, “Our new mobile health unit is more than just a vehicle—it symbolizes our unwavering commitment to improving lives and advancing our mission.”
She further explained that MSS, a local non-profit organization established in 1991, delivers high-quality reproductive health and family planning services. Serving over 700,000 clients annually, MSS has reached nearly 8 million couples since 2010, saving the lives of more than 7,000 mothers across Pakistan.
The British High Commission in Pakistan continues to foster and strengthen relations between the UK and Pakistan.
