Authorities have announced a rise in the fee for climbing Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak. The cost for mountaineers attempting to conquer the 8,849-meter summit will now be as high as $15,000 per person.
Located on the border between China and Nepal, Everest attracts climbers from around the globe, including many from Pakistan, who have achieved remarkable milestones on its slopes.
In May 2023, Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Sadpara made history by summiting Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen or the assistance of Sherpas. He is the first Pakistani to achieve this extraordinary feat, fulfilling the dream of his late father, legendary climber Mohammad Ali Sadpara.
Another notable achievement came from Naila Kiani, who became the first non-Nepalese climber to scale Mount Everest during the 2023 mountaineering season. She is the second Pakistani woman to conquer the peak, following in the footsteps of Samina Baig, who achieved the milestone in 2013.
Mount Everest continues to be a source of inspiration and accomplishment for climbers worldwide, with these increases in fees expected to help manage and preserve the iconic mountain for future generations.
