After launching the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro last November, Asus is preparing to release another addition to the lineup, the ROG Phone 9 FE (Fan Edition). A report by 91mobiles gives a detailed look at the upcoming device, including leaked renders and specifications that provide a clear idea of what to expect.
According to the report, the ROG Phone 9 FE closely resembles the ROG Phone 9 Pro in design. Leaked images reveal the phone in Phantom Black, maintaining the bold, gaming-oriented aesthetic that the ROG series is known for. The device will reportedly measure 8.9mm thick, weigh 225 grams, and feature AirTrigger controls, which are a signature component of Asus’s gaming devices.
The ROG Phone 9 FE will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which is last year’s flagship chipset compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite found on the Rog Phone 9 and 9 Pro. It will come with 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage and will run Android 15 out of the box.
The smartphone will feature a 6.78-inch 1080p LTPO AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, which can boost up to 185Hz through Game Genie for a more immersive gaming experience. The display is also said to offer 2,500 nits peak brightness (with 1,600 nits in HBM) and comes with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, which is the same as the vanilla Rog Phone 9.
For photography, the ROG Phone 9 FE will have the same camera system as its sibling phones with a 50MP primary camera (Sony IMX890 with OIS), a 13MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP macro camera, and a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.
As per the report, the ROG Phone 9 FE will pack a 5,500 mAh battery, which is only slightly smaller than the Rog Phone 9/9 Pro’s 5800 mAh cell. The phone will support 65W wired charging, enabling quick top-ups, and it will also include wireless charging for added convenience.
While there is no word on the Rog Phone 9 FE’s pricing, the older chipset suggests we can expect a slight price cut. Since the vanilla Rog Phone 9 launched for $899, the Rog Phone 9 FE can be expected to go for below $800-700.
