Watch Redmi Note 17 Get Hit With Footballs and Blasted With Firehose

Redmi has released a new teaser video for the upcoming Redmi Note 17 Pro, highlighting the smartphone’s durability in a series of unusual tests ahead of its official launch on July 14 in China.

Instead of traditional durability demonstrations, the company put the Note 17 Pro through a range of exaggerated challenges, including blocking football penalty kicks, being struck by nuts and a durian, and even facing the powerful stream from a firefighter’s water hose.

Extreme Tests

Inspired by football, Redmi mounted several Note 17 Pro units onto a robotic arm that acted as a goalkeeper, using the phones to block multiple penalty shots.

The company then subjected the device to repeated impacts from hard objects such as nuts before striking it with a durian to demonstrate the strength of its display.

The final test was the most demanding. Redmi exposed the phone to the high-pressure jet from a firefighter’s hose, which the company showed was powerful enough to break windows and push a car. Despite the intense force, the teaser suggests the phone remained intact.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the front and carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance, making it one of the most durable Redmi smartphones to date.

Specifications

Redmi has also shared an official image of the upcoming Redmi Note 17 lineup. The standard Redmi Note 17 appears to feature a single rear camera, which is rumored to use a 50MP sensor.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro, meanwhile, includes a dual-camera setup. While leaks suggest the main camera could feature a 200MP sensor, Redmi has not officially confirmed those specifications.

The standard Redmi Note 17 has already received certification for global markets alongside what appears to be a similar device under the Poco brand.

However, it remains unclear whether the global Redmi Note 17 will match the Chinese model in specifications. Redmi has also not confirmed whether the Note 17 Pro will be released outside China.
