According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a severe cold wave continues to sweep across the country. The capital city, Islamabad, recorded a low of 0°C today. The freezing temperatures have brought chilly mornings and cold nights, impacting daily life in the city.
Other major cities also experienced low temperatures, with Lahore at 7°C, Karachi at 12°C, and Peshawar at 5°C. In the northern regions, extreme cold was observed as Leh plunged to a record -13°C, followed by Astore at -11°C and Gupis at -9°C.
Skardu and Kalam recorded a freezing -8°C, while Quetta saw temperatures drop to -4°C. Hunza and Bagrot hit -5°C, and Parachinar was at -3°C.
Murree, a popular hill station near Islamabad, recorded a minimum temperature of -1°C. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad reported 3°C, while Gilgit stood at -2°C.
Across the border in Indian-administered Kashmir, Srinagar and Baramulla recorded -4°C, Pulwama and Anantnag -5°C, and Shopian -3°C.
The Met Office in Islamabad has urged residents to take precautions during the cold weather, especially in the northern regions where temperatures remain below freezing. Authorities have also advised travelers to exercise caution on icy roads.
