Chinese Company to Install 3,000 EV Charging Stations in Pakistan

A Chinese firm has unveiled plans to establish 3,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Pakistan, aiming to promote green energy adoption and create employment opportunities.

A delegation from China’s ADM Group met with Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah and other stakeholders to discuss the expansion of EV infrastructure in the country. Minister Shah stated that the provincial government supports the project, which will include charging stations in urban centers and highways.

Each station is estimated to cost Rs. 8 million, with an initial deposit of Rs. 1 million required for installation. The initiative is expected to generate around one million jobs.

ADM Group has also signed an agreement with the federal government to develop EV charging infrastructure and is considering setting up manufacturing plants in Pakistan. If the company establishes production facilities in Sindh, the provincial government may purchase 20% of the locally manufactured EVs.

ADM Group CEO Yasir Bhambhani stated that local EV production could begin this year if approved. He also mentioned plans to export “Made in Pakistan” electric vehicles to seven countries, including India.

The company aims to build three plants in Karachi, Punjab, and Balochistan, with an annual production capacity of 72,000 units.

  • I do not like jokes and this one is a Big Joke.
EV charging stations? Will electricity be also imported from China as we in the capital still face up to 14 hours weekly, unscheduled load shedding.
Exporting made in Pakistan EVs to seven countries including India? Do we have trade relations with India? India is already manufacturing EVs locally and the demand is not that high.
I do not think we shall ever learn.
