Approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on June 4, 2021, the project is being developed at a total cost of Rs. 31.1 billion ($186.658 million). A significant portion, Rs. 26.48 billion, is being funded through a loan from the Korean Exim Bank, while Rs. 4.72 billion is allocated under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).

The IT Park will consist of an eleven-story building, with eight floors above ground and three underground, covering a total area of 106,449 square meters. It will house offices, testing laboratories, classrooms, an industry-academia linkage center, an auditorium, and other facilities designed to support IT innovation and business development. The facility is expected to accommodate approximately 210 IT companies, employing nearly 8,400 professionals.

The foundation stone for the Karachi IT Park was laid on November 8, 2022, by Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Syed Amin Ul Haq.

Once operational, the Karachi IT Park is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy by generating employment opportunities, attracting foreign investment, and other things.
