LDA Seals More Illegal Properties in Lahore

As part of its ongoing crackdown on illegal commercial buildings and fee defaulters, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) conducted operations in various areas of the provincial capital on Wednesday, sealing 105 properties.

The operation was overseen by Chief Town Planner I Asad Dogar and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali. In Khayaban-e-Firdousi, Johar Town, LDA teams sealed 30 properties for unauthorized commercial use despite the road being designated for commercial activity. These included cafés, restaurants, private offices, and other businesses. Additionally, 34 properties were sealed in Sabzazar for similar violations, while 30 more were shut down in Canal Road, New Muslim Town, and Shadman. Another 11 properties, including private schools, colleges, clinics, shops, and offices, were sealed in Faisal Town. Authorities had issued multiple warnings before taking action.

Meanwhile, LDA Director General (DG) Tahir Farooq inspected Main Boulevard Gulberg and Liberty Chowk to review the operations conducted by LDA, TEPA, and the district administration. He also assessed ongoing development projects in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, the LDA DG stated that, following special instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Main Boulevard Gulberg would be transformed into a model road, with illegal parking and encroachments removed. He directed authorities to clear debris from commercial and under-construction properties and ensure the removal of unauthorized signboards from buildings and plazas.

He further instructed LDA, TEPA, and the district administration to collaborate in eliminating encroachments and working with traffic police to improve traffic flow.

Additionally, the DG noted that road asphalting and service lane improvements from Liberty Chowk to Gaddafi Stadium were progressing swiftly. Enhancements around Gaddafi Stadium were being carried out in preparation for an upcoming international cricket event.

Chief Engineer LDA, Chief Engineer TEPA, Chief Town Planner-I, and other officials were present during the inspection. Later, the LDA DG also reviewed the construction progress of a dedicated biker lane on Ferozepur Road.

Meanwhile, a delegation of trainee officers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) visited the LDA headquarters in Johar Town, where Additional DG Headquarters Dr. Mujtaba Arafat briefed them on LDA’s various projects and initiatives.
