Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Jinnah Avenue Interchange flyover and F-10 roundabout expansion projects on Thursday, announcing that the F-10 roundabout U-turn will be open to traffic by the second week of February.
During his visit, the minister also sought a date from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for laying the foundation stone of underpasses on Srinagar Highway and Murree Road.
Underpass Completed, Flyover Nears Completion
The Jinnah Avenue Interchange project, which includes both an underpass and a flyover, is scheduled for completion within 100 days, with the deadline set for February 15. The underpass is already partially completed, while work on the flyover is still in progress.
CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa briefed the minister on the ongoing construction, accompanied by Secretary Interior Mohammad Khurram Agha, senior officials from NESPAK, and other relevant authorities.
During the review, Minister Naqvi emphasized expediting the construction of the flyover while ensuring high-quality standards. He also directed officials to enhance beautification efforts in the surrounding areas.
The F-10 roundabout U-turn project was also reviewed. CDA has removed the previous roundabout and introduced fish-belly U-turns on Jinnah Avenue and Nazimuddin Road to improve traffic flow after the flyover’s completion.
Murree Road Underpass Proposal and Future Plans
Following a meeting with CDA officials on Wednesday night, Minister Naqvi directed the civic agency to complete the design and cost estimates for the Murree Road underpass.
CDA is working rapidly to finalize the design and estimates. The plan is to lay the foundation stone of the Murree Road underpass project during the inauguration of the Serena Interchange project.
Additionally, the minister instructed CDA to ensure the timely completion of all landscaping and horticulture work around these infrastructure developments while maintaining high construction standards.
