IT Ministry Establishes 14 e-Rozgar Centers

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has established 14 e-Rozgar Centers in various parts of the country as part of its initiative to promote freelancing and digital entrepreneurship.

According to the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) document, work is in progress on an additional 20 centers. The program aims to set up a total of 250 e-Rozgar Centers nationwide by February 2027. This initiative is expected to generate an annual revenue of $50 million for the national economy.

The e-Rozgar initiative is a flagship program under the Prime Minister’s Digital Strategy, designed to reduce youth unemployment by fostering freelancing opportunities. These centers provide young professionals with the necessary infrastructure and resources to compete in the global digital economy. The initiative also aims to democratize access to digital workspaces, ensuring that freelancers from all regions of Pakistan can benefit from this program.

Under this plan, e-Rozgar Centers will be established in every district, with the number of centers in each province determined based on population and data from Ignite’s 1.2 million registered freelancers. Punjab is set to receive 149 centers, followed by Sindh with 51, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 28, Islamabad with 11, Balochistan with six, Azad Kashmir with three, and Gilgit-Baltistan with two centers.

The process for establishing these centers begins with the issuance of Expression of Interest (EoI) notices, which are published in newspapers, PPRA channels, PSEB’s official platforms, and social media networks. An independent committee evaluates applications and selects suitable buildings for e-Rozgar Centers.

The government, through commercial banks, facilitates interest-free loans of up to Rs. 10 million to building owners willing to provide space for these centers.

In addition to infrastructure support, the program offers free training for developers, helping them acquire essential skills for the digital marketplace. Trainers’ expenses and marketing support are also covered under the initiative.
