Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in Parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to experience rain and thunderstorms, leading to a drop in temperatures across multiple districts, according to the meteorological department.

While most areas will continue to have dry and cold conditions, winter is set to intensify in the upper parts of the province. Forecasters predict that districts like Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, and Hazara Division will see rain with thunderstorms.

Similar weather is expected in Mansehra, Kohistan, Battagram, Mohmand, Bajaur, and Kurram. Additionally, snowfall is likely in the province’s upper regions, especially in hilly areas, which may cause travel disruptions.

In the past 24 hours, Lower Dir recorded the highest rainfall at 11mm, followed by Kalam with 9mm, Mir Khani with 7mm, and Drosh with 6mm. Chitral and Malam Jabba received 3mm each, while Kakol recorded 2mm. Swat’s Saidu Sharif and Takht Bhai saw 1mm of rain.

Snowfall was also reported in mountainous areas, with Kalam receiving 5 inches and Malam Jabba 1 inch. Authorities have advised residents to take precautions against the cold and warned travelers about possible roadblocks due to snowfall.

Meanwhile, a new weather system is expected to bring rain to parts of Pakistan, including Punjab, from January 31 to February 1. Lahore and nearby districts may see light rain, offering temporary relief from rising temperatures.
