The Serena Interchange project, launched alongside Jinnah Avenue Interchange in November, has faced delays. Initially set for completion by January 5, the project has now been rescheduled for inauguration on February 4.
The Serena Interchange consists of three underpasses, with one already open for traffic. The remaining two on Srinagar Highway are expected to open on February 4. However, without an underpass on Murree Road connecting the interchange to Srinagar Highway, one of the underpasses will remain underutilized, as traffic from AJK and Murree cannot directly access Srinagar Highway.
Following a meeting with CDA officials on Wednesday night, Minister Naqvi directed the civic agency to complete the design and cost estimates for the Murree Road underpass.
CDA is working rapidly to finalize the design and estimates. The plan is to lay the foundation stone of the Murree Road underpass project during the inauguration of the Serena Interchange project.
Additionally, the minister instructed CDA to ensure the timely completion of all landscaping and horticulture work around these infrastructure developments while maintaining high construction standards.
