Here is the Latest Update on Jasprit Bumrah’s Injury Ahead of Champions Trophy

Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has reported to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for medical scans on his injured back, raising concerns about his availability for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. Bumrah injured his back once again during the final Test of India’s recently concluded five-match series against Australia, putting his participation in the ICC tournament in doubt.

Jasprit Bumrah, still named in India’s Champions Trophy squad, is expected to remain at the NCA for the next two to three days while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team evaluates the severity of his condition. Once the tests are complete, NCA specialists will submit their report to the senior selection committee, chaired by Ajit Agarkar.

Although he was initially ruled out of the first two ODIs against England, there was optimism that Jasprit Bumrah could return for the final game of the series to regain match fitness before the Champions Trophy. However, his recovery timeline remains uncertain.

During the squad announcement, India’s chief selector revealed:

Bumrah has been advised to rest for five weeks and won’t be available for the first two ODIs against England. We are waiting on his fitness and will have more clarity in early February from the medical team.

While the pacer refuted reports of being on bed rest, the timeline for his return remains uncertain.

Bumrah’s participation in the Champions Trophy will now depend entirely on his recovery progress over the next few weeks. If the star pacer fails to regain full fitness in time, he is expected to be replaced by Harshit Rana in India’s squad for the marquee tournament.

With the Champions Trophy approaching, all eyes will be on the ICC Player of the Year’s fitness updates. India hopes to have its pace ace fit and firing for the global event.
