Another Bengal Tiger Dies in Bahawalpur Zoo

Another rare Bengal tiger died in captivity at the local zoo on Wednesday.

According to reports, the 20-year-old tiger, brought to the zoo in 2010, had been unwell for some time, with one of its legs becoming crippled due to illness. In its final days, it was being fed beef mince.

Muhammad Usman Bokhari, the Wildlife Deputy Director of the Bahawalpur division and acting zoo curator, did not respond to inquiries. However, he was quoted as saying that the tiger had lived out its natural lifespan before passing away.

With the curator unavailable, it remains unclear whether a postmortem examination was conducted.

This marks the second tiger death in recent weeks—previously, a visually-impaired Bengal tiger died from kidney failure.
